Teatro Solís Prepares to Incorporate Vibrational Vests for Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing Individuals

El Teatro Solís se prepara para incoporar chalecos vibratorios para personas sordas o con hipoacusia

The Montevideo theatre is preparing to introduce vibrational vests, becoming the first theatre in Uruguay and the region to implement these devices for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. This initiative is part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Teatro Solís’s reopening.

In honour of the 20 years since its reopening, Teatro Solís is strengthening its commitment to accessibility in the performing arts as a Human Right.

The frequencies transmitted by the vibrational vests enhance visual immersion tenfold and add a physical dimension that allows individuals to experience all the nuances of the sound worlds of performances, experiences, or projections.

These vests are specially designed for individuals with profound deafness, both with and without implants, and can also be used by those with hearing loss.

This initiative is led by Teatro Solís with the support of Goethe Institut and Timmpi.
