Initiative with an interdisciplinary perspective

Eduardo Díaz, Director of Programming of the space, explains that the idea of promoting this initiative arose after the summer of this year, when the venue generated an activity that allowed observing the need to develop a proposal of this type. “Based on the successful convocation of our Popular Song Festival, the enormous talent that we identified in the participants of this first contest and the empirical way in which the genre is approached, we decided to create an instance of participation and professionalization”.

He adds that behind the workshop there is an “interdisciplinary look, providing tools of vocal technique, musical interpretation, performative expression and image. We have also wanted to open a space dedicated to vocal health. For this we contacted the prominent singer Carolina Soto, the national actor Gabriel Cañas, while the aesthetic and image workshop will be assumed by Bernardo Santander, and the speech therapy workshop will be dictated by the professional in this area, Joshua Zúñiga ”.

Díaz added that “they will select 20 participants who will be from September to October in our Theater. We will reward those who stand out the most in the process, inviting them to star in a final show on our stage. There they will be able to demonstrate what they have learned during the workshop. It is our interest to continue opening spaces for participation that contribute to the professionalization of our sector and that these communities find in our Theater a space for fulfillment and growth ”.

Paula Gannat Ojeda, Executive Director of the Corporation for Culture and the Arts of the Municipality of Rancagua, highlights the objective of initiatives such as this one: a space not only to demonstrate their talent and help make them known by their community: it also intends to contribute to their professionalization on a continuous basis, because we believe that in O’Higgins there are artists who deserve to shine in all their splendor ”.

They always taught us that the singer is only a singer, the actor is only an actor, and it is not like that. I believe that the singer must know many branches of art, for example, he must have knowledge of acting, aesthetics and speech therapy, knowing what is inside and how to use it. The objective is to motivate, guide the way towards an integral singer, who knows how to communicate and stand before a stage ”.

Regarding his role, the actor Gabriel Cañas explained that he will give “theatrical skills to the students to improve the interpretation of him, giving him a particular place that is typical of each of the students. So we can ace
