Review: Teatro Biobío is a performing arts and music center of excellence that promotes the development of art and culture in its community. It is projected as a pole of reference, rescuing local traditions and opening its space to new national and international proposals for theater, dance, opera, music – learned and popular – and cinema.

Inaugurated in 2018, Teatro Biobío is an unprecedented cultural infrastructure for the inhabitants of the Region, with a high technological level, where diverse and large-scale shows can be witnessed. It is located in the city of Concepción –512 km south of Santiago–, on the north bank of the widest and longest river in Chile, the Biobío. The theater adjoins what was the Mapuche border and keeps a past linked to the Mapuche resistance to the conquest of southern Chile.

From that symbolic landmark of the country, Teatro Biobío emphasizes the development of audiences for the future, generating access and participation of different actors in the community.
