Abstract: Inaugurated in 2010, as the Bicentennial Work of Chile, Teatro del Lago is a source of inspiration around music, dance and creativity. It is an international stage that, at the gates of Patagonia, presents the world’s leading artists; it generates unique instances of contact and training between artists and the community and promotes the realization of forums around innovation, creativity and culture, as drivers of development.

Located in Frutillar, a city in southern Chile – almost 1,000 kilometers from Santiago – in a unique natural environment on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. In almost 10 years of life, Teatro del Lago has established itself as one of the main venues in Latin America, recognized for the quality of its artistic season, privileged infrastructure and acoustics and for the unique opportunity it offers artists to participate actively in the educational mission of the Foundation.

Artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Helmuth Rilling, Valery Gergiev, Maxim Vengerov, Marianela Nunez, Diana Damrau, Javier Camarena, Chick Corea and Paquito D ‘Rivera, have performed on stage. In the 2011 and 2012 seasons, they premiered two lyrical productions -The Rapture in the Serrallo and The Magic Flute, respectively- with international cast, which positioned it as the southernmost opera house in the world. Likewise, throughout the year they develop an artistic and educational season that includes symphonic, lyrical, chamber and popular concerts, as well as ballet, circus, talks, forums and workshops, among others.
