The Symphony Hall hosts on March 22, 24 and 26 this commitment to Latin American poetry. Tickets are already on sale.

Florencia en el Amazonas, by Daniel Catán, will be premiered in Spain in a commitment by Ópera de Tenerife to Latin American poetry. The Symphony Hall will host this journey of love on March 22, 24 and 26.

The opera Florencia en el Amazonas is a creation by the Mexican Daniel Catán, with a libretto by Marcela Fuentes-Berain, which premiered in 1996 and deals with the different ways of living love through a boat trip through the Amazon. This opera, which drinks from elements of magical realism inspired by Gabriel García Márquez, is programmed for the first time in Spain, after an extensive tour of the opera houses of America. In Europe it has only been seen in Germany and Switzerland.

The musical direction of this Auditorio de Tenerife production will be carried out by Pedro Halffter, who will take the baton of the Tenerife Symphony. The scenic part is headed by the director Chía Patiño, whose team is completed with the scenery by Izmir Ickbal, the costumes by Felype de Lima and the lighting by Erin Flemming. On the other hand, the design and direction of puppets bear the signature of Alejandra Prieto.

As for the cast, the soprano Sandra López will play Florencia Grimaldi; soprano Lina Mendes will play Rosalba; the tenor Airam Hernández will be Arcadio; the baritones José Julián Frontal and Àngel Òdena will play Álvaro and Riolbo, respectively; the mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala will be Paula, and the bass Alejandro López will play the role of the ship’s captain.
