The Theatro São Pedro, an institution of the Government of the State of São Paulo and of the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy of the State, managed by the social organization Santa Marcelina Cultura, opens registrations for the Lyric Composition Workshop that aims to promote the composition of unpublished works.

Developed between November 2021 and October 2022, the workshop will impart a training program with teachers who are leaders in gender and will culminate with the creation and presentation of the works within the lyrical season of Theatro São Pedro. The program will offer the selected theoretical and practical activities, providing a vision of opera in contemporary times and preparing them to discuss and think about the development of the operatic language.

The Lyric Composition Workshop will also provide collective theoretical activities, coaching with specialists, workshops with instrumentalists from the São Pedro Theater Orchestra, with professional singers and singers, as well as reading rehearsals with the Orchestra, meetings for discussion and orientation about the works. and the preparation and public presentation of the repertoire developed by the participants.

The program offers six positions in total, three for the creation of compositions and three for the creation of librettos. With the aim of greater gender equity in the execution of the project, the notice provides that at least two vacancies, one in the composition area and the other for librettists, will be reserved for female candidates.

The faculty is made up of Flo Menezes (composition), Alexandre Dal Farra and João Luiz Sampaio (dramaturgy and creation of librettos). In addition to the instrumentalists of the São Pedro Theater Orchestra: Rafaela Lopes (harp), Renan Gonçalves (strings), Camila Hessel (strings), Daniel Oliveira (woods), Sandra Ribeiro (woods), Fabio Simão (brass) and Carlos dos Santos (percussion). The musical direction of the shows will be in charge of Ricardo Bologna and Ricardo Ballestero. Participants will also have workshops with professional singers and singers.

The beneficiaries will receive a stimulus grant in the amount of R $ 3,500.00. The age limit to participate in the program is 35 years old.
