Under the musical direction of Esteban Calderón, the live orchestra performs on stage, immersed in a sordid and dark Buenos Aires landscape. With Calderón on bandoneon and Leo Marconi on piano, the “piazzollinas” sounds evoked nostalgia and passion for the suburb.
The stage direction, scenographic and costume designs of the renowned scenographer Sergio Massa, managed to make sense of Ferrer’s poems and Piazzolla’s chords. In Massa’s voice, this staging “seeks to embody the orphanhood, love and cruelty of this imaginary and marginal, timeless and surreal site.”
