Featured Soloists in the company of the Mixed Choir of the City of Quito, the Youth Choir, the Lyric School, all of them under the baton of maestro Yuri Sobolev, presents a tour of the most prominent arias of the opera.

The charm of the opera comes to Teatro Nacional Sucre on October 30 and 31, in a fascinating tour of the most beautiful arias called Opera UIO, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra, the Mixed City Choir of Quito, the Youth Choir and the Lyric School, under the musical direction of Master Yuri Sobolev.

With the participation of soloists: Jorge Cassis, Andrea Cóndor, María José Fabara, María Fernanda Argoti, Vanessa Valladares, Sergio Enciso and Freddy Godoy, an unpublished repertoire will be presented that includes pieces by Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini, Charles Gounoud, Richard Wagner , among others. The program includes arias such as: La Traviata, Norma, Carmen, and many more surprises.

According to the soprano, Vanessa Valladares, “a show full of emotion, drama and love is being prepared”, which combines the staging, costumes, music and space, to embody a fantastic game capable of attract new audiences and withsolidarity captive audiences.

For Fredy Moreno, Artistic-Executive Director of the Teatro Nacional Sucre, “Opera UIO It is the beginning to consolidate and generate new audiences for the opera, and in the near future give it the character of emblematic, where keynote talks, exhibitions, rehearsals with public, conferences and more tools that allow Quito to enter the circuit of the big cities for the performing arts. ”

This event takes place within the framework of the celebrations for World Opera Day, which was celebrated on October 25 and is an international commemoration that honors a genre of more than 400 years of existence.

About the musical director Yuri Sobolev

He trained at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he has been an orchestral conductor and assistant conductor of the Symphony Orchestra. He was titular and artistic director of the Symphony Orchestra of the Ryasan Governorate; titular conductor of the Symphony and Chamber Orchestra of the Higher School of Music of the province of Moscow, among others. Since January 2019, he has been the assistant musical director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador.

About the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador

It is the first musical institution in the country and the highest representative of academic music in Ecuador. On November 26, 1949, the Congress issued its decree of creation, which entered into force on January 2, 1950. In the 70 years of creation, it has achieved a solid trajectory carrying out great operas, symphonies and concerts under the baton. of noted Ecuadorian directors.

Lyric School: It arises on January 1, 2006 in response to a social and cultural need to reactivate the lyric genre in Ecuador and as a product of the development achieved in the opera productions of the Sucre National Theater since its reopening at the end of 2003. The primary objective of the School is to interpret the most significant titles of the universal lyrical repertoire and encourage the creation of our own tradition in our country and region.     

About Quito City Mixed Choir

Sound, timbre, music, intention, senses; all elements of the same art: singing. This gift is housed in 28 voices that have 20 years of experience: the Mixed Choir City of Quito. Initially (1993), this group was thought of as a Chamber Choir, composed of approximately 16 musicians, but today, they have become a great choir, listed as one of the most important in Ecuador, and has the capacity of interpreting the most varied genres.
