With six functions from Sunday 20, after 11 years of absence, this great opera by Verdi returns to the main Argentine lyric stage, in a version that will feature the musical direction of maestro Ira Levin and the stage direction and stage designs and costumes of the award-winning and prestigious Argentine art director Eugenio Zanetti (pictured).

Born in Córdoba, this artist has shone especially in the cinematographic field, where he debuted four decades ago in the Oscar-nominated film La truce, adapted by Mario Benedetti directed by the recently deceased Sergio Renán; since the 80s he began to stand out in Hollywood, consecrating himself in 1996 when he won the Oscar for best art direction, for the movie Restoration, and was again nominated for the statuette three years later for Beyond Dreams (What Dreams May Come). Zanetti has also dabbled as a filmmaker, since last year he premiered his film Poppy, and this production of the Verdian opera will mark his debut in the official lyric season of Columbus, where he had previously collaborated with the Experimentation Center in 2011.

The cast will be starring tenors José Bros and Gustavo López Manzitti alternating in the leading role, alongside Alexander Vinogradov / Lucas Debevec Mayer as Felipe II, Tamar Iveri / Haydée Dabusti as Elisabetta de Valois, Fabián Veloz and Alejandro Meerapfel as Rodrigo, Béatrice Uria Monzon and María Luján Mirabelli as Princess Eboli and Alexei Tanovitski and Emiliano Bulacios as the Grand Inquisitor. After the premiere, the remaining functions will be held on Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23, Saturday 26, Sunday 27 and Tuesday 29.
