The forum will take place on May 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Palace of Justice in Manaus, Brazil.

The meeting will bring together important cultural actors from Brazil and Latin America to open the dialogue around the creation of cultural public policies.

For the first time in the history of the Festival Amazonas de Opera (FAO) a meeting dedicated to the creative economy is organized. Considering that this festival creates hundreds of jobs and for months attract thousands of tourists from all over the world, it will take advantage of the opportunity to think about how opera is a relevant economic contribution and a great driver of cities.

Flavia Furtado, Executive Director of the FAO and promoter of the Meeting, points out, “It is the first time that a Brazilian theater promotes a discussion on opera, outside the internal sphere of theaters. My idea in imagining this meeting is precisely to reach and take the discussion outside the inner walls of the opera houses. We need the economy, tourism and public policy notebooks to begin to understand opera as it is: a strong agent of economic and social growth where it is installed. Without this discussion, opera will have no future in the 21st century, many countries already understand all that years ago.  It is time for Brazil and Latin America to look for that for their theaters and opera companies in a comprehensive and positive way. “

Among the panelists summoned to debate will be the Secretary of State for Culture of Amazonas, Marcos Apolo Muniz; the Secretary of Culture of the Ministry of Citizenship, Henrique Medeiros Pires; the executive director of the Ópera Latinoamérica OLA, Alejandra Martí; the head of the Division of Cultural Affairs, Solidarity and Creativity of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), Trinidad Zaldívar; the president of the Brazilian Academy of Music, João Guilherme Ripper; the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of São Paulo, Sérgio Sá Leitão; from the Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro, Ruan Lira.

On the occasion, a document will be signed in which the importance and relevance of is recognized Ópera Latinoamérica (OLA) for lyrical art in Latin America, a pact between the Ministry of Citizenship and the agency for the Brazilian opera marketsee in an objective and professional, taking into account its economic, cultural and social impact.

The Festival Amazonas de Ópera is the largest Brazilian opera event, and this year it will bring the responsibility to start discussing the opera market within Brazil, from the perspective of the 21st century.
