Llega la Ópera de Montevideo

The Main Hall of the Solís Theater dressed as an opera to receive the public and the press. The Director of the Cultural Promotion Division of the Department of Culture, Jorge Navratil, opened the conference by welcoming the audience and announcing: “This year we have the challenge of producing four beautiful titles.”
This season consists of four titles with several novelties and with proposals for everyone: from El Castillo de Barbazul, under the musical direction of Maestro Ligia Amadio; a semi-stage production that will be presented for the first time in Uruguay; to El Barbero de Sevilla, a cartoon set that proposes animations on a giant screen that dialogue and interact with the singers on stage. This title comes in tribute to Gioachino Rossini, in the year in which the 150th anniversary of his death is commemorated.
Martín Jorge, Director of the Lyric Area, announced that the season is completed with “One of the great romantic operas par excellence, Werther“, which will feature his musical direction and the stage direction of Alejandro Chacón. Finally and due to the success, comes a replacement: La Verbena de la Paloma, which returns after integrating the 2017 season.
Betting on accessibility and an important rapprochement with the public, it was announced the Youth Pass that can be purchased by all people under 29, presenting their identity card at the theater ticket office. This subscription allows access to the four titles of the season for a price of $ 1,400.
In addition, classic season tickets continue to be available for the public to access the titles of interest. The total subscription includes El Castillo de Barbazul, El Barbero de Sevilla and Werther, for $ 2,420, while El Castillo de Barbazul plus opera of choice (Werther or El Barbero de Sevilla) has a cost of $ 1,420. The tickets can only be purchased at the ticket office. Tickets are on sale from $ 250 at Tickantel and theater ticket office.
