Madama Butterfly, by Giacomo Puccini, took to the stage of the Teatro del Libertador in Córdoba (Argentina) and confirmed the return of the opera to the Argentine Coliseum. The staging was in charge of Cristina Morini and Rafael Reyeros, while the leading roles were played by Ivanna Speranza and Cecilia Leunda (Cio-Cio-San); the tenors Darío Schmunck and Gustavo Serrano (Pinkerton); Alejandra Malvino and Ines Brusco (Suzuki).

The Teatro del Libertador General San Martín (Córdoba, Argentina) opened the curtain again to the opera, with the staging of the harrowing story of Cio-Cio San, narrated in the famous creation by Giacomo Puccini.

The first two performances of the four scheduled were held to a full house, with performances by the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra, the Córdoba Polyphonic Choir and a remarkable cast of solo voices. All this with a staging by Cristina Morini and Rafael Reyeros, two renowned figures of theater, opera and dance, under the direction of the master Jongwhi Vakh.

The leading roles are performed by two casts, namely: the sopranos Ivanna Speranza and Cecilia Leunda (10), in the role of Cio-Cio-San; the tenors Darío Schmunck and Gustavo Serrano, in the role of Pinkerton; Alejandra Malvino and Inés Brusco -contraltos- as Suzuki; baritone Federico Finocchiaro, Sharpless; Gerardo Martínez -tenor-, Goro; the tenor José Curado, in the role of Prince Yamadori; contralto Pia Gray as Kate Pinkerton; bass Federico Bildoza, Bonzo; and Leonardo Pérez -bass-, Commissioner.

After a few years of lyrical absence from these tables, the realization was an achievement of all the dependencies, theatrical trades and stable casts that work in the theater designed by the Italian architect Francisco Tamburini. The coliseum of the Mediterranean city was inaugurated on April 26, 1891.
