Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires and Teatro Municipal de Santiago will carry out an unprecedented joint broadcast to celebrate the Chilean National Holidays
This Sunday 20, at 8:00 p.m., both institutions will broadcast through their digital platforms, the concert of the Chilean director that marked a milestone in the 2017 season of the main Argentine theater and that featured solo performances by the prominent violinist Pinchas Zukerman and cellist Amanda Forsyth.
For the first time in the history of both institutions and within the framework of the celebration of the Chilean National Holidays, the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires and the Teatro Municipal de Santiago will come together to carry out a joint digital transmission with which they hope to reach thousands people .
The appointment of this unprecedented virtual meeting will be this Sunday, September 20 at 8:00 p.m., when the platforms of the Municipal de Santiago (Municipal Delivery) and Colón (Culture at Home) simultaneously broadcast the concert of the outstanding Chilean director Maximiano Valdés at in front of the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. A remembered show that marked a milestone in the 2017 season of the Colón and featured the solo performance of the great violinist Pinchas Zukerman and the cellist Amanda Forsyth, and a program that included the Double Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, Op. 102 by Johannes Brahms and Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Op. 56, “Scottish” by Felix Mendelssohn.

For her part, Carmen Gloria Larenas, general director of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, highlighted that culture and artists are great ambassadors of their countries throughout the world and manage to become important bridges of knowledge, union and closeness between peoples with different cultures and history. “We are delighted with this cultural and artistic collaboration with the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires. Actions like these are part of the Municipal’s philosophy today, which is to create ties and connections that allow Chilean artists to be made visible in the best possible way, “added Larenas.
From Puerto Rico, Maximiano Valdés, principal conductor of the Symphony of Puerto Rico and the National Youth Orchestras of Chile, declared that he felt “very honored to be present at the transmissions of the Teatro Municipal and the Teatro Colón in these days of National Holidays. Music is an instrument of union and brotherhood and with it we want to send a message of peace to all”, he affirmed.
This transmission -which will be available on the YouTube channel of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago and on the digital platform of the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires www.teatrocolon.org.ar/culturaencasa and on its social networks (Facebook and Instagram) on September 20 at 8:00 p.m.- is part of the activities with which the Embassy of Chile in Argentina and the City of Buenos Aires will celebrate the national anniversary of Chile in that country, which include the illumination of monuments and emblematic buildings, with the colors of the Chilean flag, among others.
