“It is very important that young people are encouraged to actively participate and acquire new knowledge about culture. This shows the effort we make so that all sectors of society have access to cultural policies, “said Doreen Javier Ibarra, President of the Board of Directors of Sodre

On Tuesday, August 21, in the Perifoneo Space of the Adela Reta del Sodre National Auditorium of Uruguay, the first results of the public research of the National Ballet of Sodre, presented by the Faculty of Culture of CLAEH, were presented.

.
The event was held at the central table with the presence of the Minister of Education and Culture María Julia Muñoz, the President of the Board of Directors of Sodre Doreen Javier Ibarra, the Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Sodre, Mtro Igor Yebra, the Dean of the Faculty of the Culture of CLAEH, José Rilla and the teacher Germán Silveira.

.
During his speech, the President of the Board of Sodre Doreen Javier Ibarra stressed the importance of the agreement signed last year with the CLAEH University that allows them to draw important conclusions not only to the Sodre but also to the Ministry of Education and Culture, to know the current reality and continue advancing in the process of democratization of culture. “The number of spectators that follows the Ballet is increasing every day. I am pleased with this preliminary report and that 27% of the public attending is less than 30 years old. It is very important that young people are encouraged to actively participate and acquire new knowledge about culture. During these years thousands and thousands of children and young people have had the chance to see shows of Ballet and other stable bodies, which will allow us to bring new audiences in the near future. This shows the effort we make so that all sectors of society have access to cultural policies, “he concluded.

Since July 2017, the Faculty of Culture has developed a public research work, being pioneers in the analysis of this subject, since it is the first one carried out in Uruguay. Taking a state ballet company as an object of study, the research combines a quantitative approach through surveys, with a qualitative one with a discussion group.
